President's Message

As the summer comes to a close, I reflect on the first half of the year spent as President of the Council of Asian Pacific Americans.

CAPA held many successful events during the first half of the year, such as Simply the Best for our young professionals, Splendor of the East culture show, CAPA Advisory Board meeting, CAPA Board Retreat, Splendor of the East Appreciation event, etc. CAPA is especially proud to initiate our quarterly Community Leader Roundtable in 2007 to foster greater communication and collaboration between communities, and we hope to continue our great dialogue throughout 2007 and years to come. CAPA also provided support to the Operation Smile, New Detroit, Chinese Education Conference, etc. to name a few important initiatives.

I have enjoyed working with many volunteers, and I know that all of CAPA accomplishments in 2007 could not have been possible without CAPA board members who dedicate their time and energy, and provide talent as well as sponsors who support our mission throughout the year.

Summer is passing quickly, and we will be soon discussing our events for the rest of year as well as planning for 2008. Thank you.

~Mi Dong, CAPA President 2007-08
