1. CAPA Simply the Best Success Seminar ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Simply the Best Success Seminar series in 2006
will be held on March 18th, at the Arab American
National Museum, from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. An
Asian Tea Reception will follow immediately
afterwards. This year’s theme is "Global Career
Opportunities”, featuring two
keynote
speakers and five plenary speakers on various global
economy topics impacting the workforce, business,
and society. Admission is free. Register by emailing

2. CAPA e-Mentoring Program ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
CAPA is proud to launch its e-
mentoring program! Experienced
professionals and executives, mostly from CAPA's
leadership and Advisory Board, have signed up as
mentors. Members of CAPA can request to be a
protege by sending an email to Dr. Tai Chan at tai@capa-mi.org. Initial matches of
mentors and proteges will be announced March 18th
at CAPA’s “Simply the Best Success Seminar”.

3. CAPA Splendor of the East 2006 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tickets are on sale now to CAPA’s much celebrated annual event - “Splendor of the East” this year’s theme being Gems of Asia, Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow. It all takes place Thursday, May 4, 2006 at Henry Ford Performing Arts Center in Dearborn, starting at 7pm. You can experience the richness of the various Asian Pacific American cultures, including Chinese, Filipino, Hmong, Indian, Japanese, and Korean! This year's featured performers are traveling from the Philippines to join us...CAPA welcomes Powerdance! A modern dance company with an Asian conscience, they’ve won the Grand Prize at the Saitama Dance Concourse in Japan, and most recently, was the finalist in Athens, Greece World Dance Competition! cool winter day at UM Museum of Art in Ann
Arbor. Maribeth Graybill, Senior
Curator of Asian Art of UMMA, provided a guided tour
of the special Asian Art exhibit - Landscapes of
Longing: Journeys through Memory and Place.

6. APA Heritage Month Celebration at the Capitol ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
4th Annual
Asian-Pacific American Heritage Month Celebration
at the
Capitol
Tuesday, May 16, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the State Capitol in Lansing. The tentative program for the day includes a keynote speaker, an Asian cuisine sampling, and a cultural celebration. ACAPAA CIVIL RIGHTS SURVEY is the first effort by the Governor’s Advisory Council on Asian Pacific Americans to identify key civil rights issues facing the Asian Pacific American community. OCA Scholarship Program applications are now
available. The scholarships will be
awarded to incoming Asian Pacific American college
freshmen for the 2006-2007 academic school
year. Application deadline: 4/18/06.
